Taylor’s road to Double-A has been far from smooth. After getting kicked off his Junior College team and having a scholarship to Arizona State fall through due to academic issues, Taylor stumbled into pro ball as a 36th-round pick of the Dodgers. Taylor had no backup plan after the Dodgers released him following a position change and Tommy John surgery. His wake-up call did not arrive until he fell into Independent Baseball. Newly married, with a fresh outlook on his career, Taylor is ready to change his path in his second chance at affiliated ball.

After six years of climbing the ladder in the Mets Minor League system, Xorge Carrillo is now the primary catcher at Triple-A, a level where one promotion can turn a player’s salary from $2,000 a month into more than $3,000 a day.
