After six years of climbing the ladder in the Mets Minor League system, Xorge Carrillo is now the primary catcher at Triple-A, a level where one promotion can turn a player’s salary from $2,000 a month into more than $3,000 a day. Buoyed by money earned playing in Mexico in the winter, Carrillo enters the final year of his entry-level contract looking to prove his worth while balancing commitments to his wife and son and the hopes and dreams of his family as they follow his every move.
